Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Fred Burson, and I am running to replace Forrest Banks as your Ward 5 Representative to the City of Fort Myers City Council. After a career of bringing people together in the real estate market, coaching baseball at Bishop Verot High School and raising my family, all of whom have Fort Myers addresses, I look forward to meeting you to share my readiness to serve our community. The reason I am seeking this office is to build on the quality of life we have all enjoyed in the beautiful City of Palms we call home.
Forrest, who has served us all well for many years, is retiring from public service. We all thank him for his service and wish him well.
I have met with Forrest, City Manager Saaed Kazemi, Police Chief Derrick Diggs, and current council representatives to help prepare me for the position I am seeking and more fully understand the issues and challenges we are facing in our city. I have also talked with many of our neighbors and business owners, and I intend to continue knocking on doors to learn how to best position our great city for the future.
During the next several months, I will be communicating with you though mail, town hall meetings and special events to learn and share with you issues and items that we all care deeply about. Some of these issues include public safety, trust and relationships with our city government, water quality, McGregor Boulevard street enhancements and beautification and our budget and core service levels. I hope you will also reach out to me and share your thoughts and suggestions on how we can continue to enhance our quality of life. Please call me any time at 239-425-6024.
A cornerstone of my campaign will be accountability to all residents of Ward 5 for the aforementioned items. I pledge to represent you, your families and our visitors with the utmost trust and integrity.
